CONCORD, N.C. – William Byron will start the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway as the highest running Hendrick Motorsports driver. Byron, the Charlotte, North Carolina, native will look to take home his first career victory at his home track in the NASCAR Cup Series. Last season, he earned a runner-up finish after leading 91 laps.

All four Hendrick Motorsports cars advanced into the final round of qualifying at Charlotte.
Fresh off a victory in the NASCAR Xfinity Series earlier in the afternoon, Chase Elliott qualified in the fifth position. With one victory on the oval configuration in his career, the Dawsonville, Georgia, native will aim to find his first crown jewel victory this weekend.
Starting outside Elliott on row three will be Alex Bowman in the sixth position. The driver of the Ally Racing No. 48 has earned eight top-10 results through the first 13 races of the 2024, a career best mark. He’ll look to back up these results with another solid run at Charlotte.
Kyle Larson will start 10th in the second leg of the #Hendrick1100 where he will attempt to complete both the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 in the same day. Larson was trending towards the top of the board before getting loose in the final corner caused him to fall to the 10th position.

On 1.5-mile tracks recently, Hendrick Motorsports has set the pace. The Rick Hendrick led group has won all three events on tracks of this nature with Larson winning at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Kansas Speedway while Elliott took home the honors at Texas.
In practice, it was Byron setting the pace with a lap of 29.782 seconds. That said, the driver of the No. 24 Liberty University Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 spun shortly after making this lap and did not complete another full lap at speed due to flat spots on his tires from the spin. During the incident, Byron was able to keep the car off of the wall and did not have any issues in qualifying.
