NASCAR driver averages: Is Martinsville Speedway the best Hendrick Motorsports track?

CONCORD, N.C. - Of all the success Hendrick Motorsports has experienced over the course of 40 years, perhaps nowhere has been the site for more of it than Martinsville Speedway. 

With Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott and William Byron still seeking to clinch a spot in the Championship 4, it's hard to imagine a more comfortable venue for the closing race of the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs Round of 8. 

The event is set for a 2 p.m. start on Sunday and will air on NBC. 

Organizationally, Hendrick Motorsports leads in almost every statistical category at the 0.526-mile paperclip. That laundry list includes the most wins (29), poles (20), top-five finishes (93), top 10s (150) and laps led, a whopping total of 10,852.

Jimmie Johnson and current vice chairman, Jeff Gordon, each went to victory lane nine times at Martinsville while driving for Hendrick Motorsports. Darrell Waltrip took the checkered flag four times and each current driver has won at least once with William Byron claiming two victories including one earlier this year.
