DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The plot, and the likelihood of rain, continue to thicken at Daytona International Speedway.
The latest forecasts predict that thunderstorms are an downright certainty to affect the DAYTONA 500 at this point, upping the percentage to 100% according to some sites. The dramatic shift could occur around 3 p.m. with rain lingering in the area until five.
The start time of the race was moved up to 1:30 with the green flag slated to fall somewhere around 2. Should 100 laps be run before rain arrives, NASCAR could choose to declare the event official though the night time forecast looks promising for a possible resumption.
Hendrick Motorsports is seeking its 10th win in the DAYTONA 500 after William Byron won his first Harley J. Earl Trophy a year ago, edging teammate Alex Bowman.
