CONCORD, N.C. -- Jimmie Johnson's No. 48 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE will be sporting a unique and important scheme for Sunday's 600-mile race at Charlotte Motor Speedway for Memorial Day weekend.
Tuesday, Ally revealed the military-inspired look for the No. 48, which honors Army Cpl. Patrick Deans of Winter Garden, Florida, who died in Afghanistan on Dec. 10, 2010.
As a tribute, Deans' name will be on the windshield of Johnson's car for Sunday's race.
“Memorial Day is a special time and I’m so thankful that everyone associated with NASCAR puts out a big effort for all the men and women who have served our country. Both my grandfathers served and my brother-in-law served,” Johnson said. “To have Cpl. Deans on my car and run a special paint scheme is a big honor for me to recognize the individual, and all those who have lost a loved one.”
