CONCORD, N.C. -- Chase Elliott's success on the track in 2016 helped him secure the title of 2016 Sunoco Rookie of the Year.

But he said he couldn't have done it without such strong fan support all season long.

"It was overwhelming and definitely unexpected to see the amount of new 24 gear at the racetrack this year," Elliott said.

With the fans behind him, the driver of the No. 24 Chevrolet SS hopes 2017 is even better.

"It was neat to see," Elliott said, "and hopefully we can keep building it."
