CONCORD, N.C. -- The eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series continues Sunday, this time from virtual Texas Motor Speedway.
Fox Sports confirmed that last weekend’s race on FOX Sports 1 drew 903,000 viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research, which prompted the network to commit to a full season of live coverage.
Last Sunday's race at Homestead had the highest-rated esports TV program in history and was the most talked about event on Twitter for the day.
The FOX NASCAR broadcast team of Jeff Gordon, Mike Joy and Larry McReynolds will continue to provide analysis of the races, just like they would a live race.
"The response on social media to last Sunday’s race has been incredible,” Gordon said. “We were able to broadcast a virtual race that was exciting and entertaining. It brought a little bit of ‘normalcy’ back to the weekend, and I can’t wait to call the action Sunday at Texas."
The first eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series event saw Alex Bowman place sixth, while Hendrick Motorsports teammates Chase Elliott, Jimmie Johnson and William Byron finished 24th, 31st and 34th, respectively.
"I enjoyed it," Elliott said of his experience. "iRacing is fun – I haven’t done it in a really long time, but it was fun to get back into it. I didn’t do too hot, so I need to get some practice in."
The second iRacing event of the season will air Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on FOX, FOX Sports 1 and the FOX Sports app.
