CONCORD, N.C. -- Chase Elliott will be starting first for this weekend's playoff race at Kansas Speedway.
The driver of the No. 9 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE nabbed the pole position after his first-place finish at the Charlotte roval last Sunday. Alex Bowman will kick off his first time to the Round of 8 in sixth and William Byron will also be in the top 10 with a 10th-place start. Jimmie Johnson will roll off the grid in 14th.
The starting lineup is based on a new metric system put in place on Aug. 6. Points position is weighted at 35%; finishing position from the previous race is for 50%; and the fastest race lap makes up 15%.
The first race in the Round of 8 will be Sunday, Oct. 18 at 2:30 p.m. ET on NBC. Take a look below at the full starting lineup.
