CONCORD, N.C. – The DAYTONA 500 is almost here, and it’s time to gear up for an exciting week at “The World Center of Racing.”
Before Sunday’s main event (2:30 p.m. ET on FOX), the packed Daytona International Speedway schedule includes NASCAR Cup Series practice on Tuesday, single-car qualifying Wednesday, the 150-mile Duel at DAYTONA races Thursday, and more practice on Friday and Saturday.
Hendrick Motorsports will make its 39th appearance in “The Great American Race.” The 14-time Cup Series champions have won the prestigious event on eight occasions, which is one shy of Petty Enterprises’ record of nine. The team has collected 14 DAYTONA 500 pole positions – more than double the total of any other organization – and started the race on the front row in each of the last seven years.
Going into the event, Hendrick Motorsports also holds the DAYTONA 500 records for runner-up finishes (seven), top-five results (29), top-10s (49) and laps led (1,300).
FOX Sports will call Sunday’s DAYTONA 500 and carry all the week’s action on its networks. MRN Radio and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio will also have wall-to-wall coverage, including SiriusXM broadcasting live from Wednesday’s DAYTONA 500 media day.
