LAS VEGAS – The defending race winner at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will start from the front row on Sunday.
Kyle Larson was second in NASCAR Cup Series qualifying at the 1.5-mile track on Saturday. He was joined in the finals of the two-round session by teammate Chase Elliott, who will start the race fifth.
Hendrick Motorsports drivers Alex Bowman and William Byron will both line up in the seventh row at Las Vegas after qualifying 13th and 14th, respectively.
Christopher Bell earned the pole position for Sunday’s race.
Larson, who advanced to the final round after being fastest in Group B, is coming off a victory last weekend at Auto Club Speedway. Las Vegas will mark his second front row start in three races this season and his eighth top-10 start in 12 Cup Series appearances there. Last March, he notched his first victory as a member of Hendrick Motorsports at the venue.
Earlier on Saturday, Hendrick Motorsports turned in a strong practice with its four Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 race cars making up half of the top eight in the 35-minute session. Larson was fastest overall with Byron fourth, Bowman sixth and Elliott eighth. Chevrolet teams took seven of the top-10 spots in the only Cup practice of the weekend.
Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race from Las Vegas Motor Speedway will air live at 3:30 p.m. ET on FOX, PRN Radio and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
