CONCORD, N.C. – The annual 600-mile race at Charlotte Motor Speedway is a Memorial Day weekend tradition with a storied history dating back to 1960 at the 1.5-mile venue.

This year's edition will mark the 14th race of the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season and will kick off the start of the second half of the Cup Series regular season.

Last season's Memorial Day weekend event saw Hendrick Motorsports score its historic 269th Cup Series win, passing Petty Enterprises for the top spot on the all-time list. Kyle Larson led 327 laps en route to the race win and the organization placed 1-2-4-5 in the 400-lapper.

Hendrick Motorsports has won this particular race a record 12 times. That mark is more than the combined total of the teams that have won this event the second- and third-most times (Richard Childress Racing at six and Petty Enterprises with five).

Here is what you need to know to catch the action this weekend.

Data courtesy of Racing Insights

2.67: Elliott's average finish in the last three 600-mile events at Charlotte. He has finished second two times in a row and finished fourth in 2019.

3: Bowman’s streak of top-10 finishes on 1.5-mile tracks. This streak matches the second-longest of his career with his longest being a five-race run from 2020 to 2021. He is also one of three drivers to nab top-10s in all three races at this track length in 2022 – Ross Chastain and Martin Truex Jr. are the others.

6: Larson and Byron are tied for longest active streak of races led on 1.5-mile tracks at six. During that span, they have combined to win three of those six events with Larson winning at Texas Motor Speedway and Kansas Speedway in last year’s playoffs and Byron winning this season at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

21: Points-paying victories for Hendrick Motorsports at Charlotte, which are tied (with Junior Johnson and Associates' 21 wins at Bristol Motor Speedway) for the third-most wins at one particular track in Cup Series history. The team also holds the top-two spots on this list with its win totals at Martinsville Speedway (27) and Dover Motor Speedway (22). Interestingly enough, Hendrick Motorsports has won at both Martinsville (with Byron) and Dover (with Elliott) this season.

305: The number of miles Hendrick Motorsports needs to lead to cross the 100,000 threshold. Presently, the organization has led 99,695.90 miles in the Cup Series.
