CONCORD, N.C. – Jeff Gordon is on a roll.
A six consecutive top-10s kind of roll.
Although Gordon might not have started this season exactly how he wanted, he is making up for it now. And after earning an eighth-place finish last week at Richmond, he is currently 10th in the point standings.
“It was a good day,” Gordon said. “We started off the race pretty decent. I don’t know, we weren’t as good on that last run, but still a really solid eighth-place finish.”
This week, the driver of the No. 24 Drive to End Hunger Chevrolet SS is heading to Talladega Superspeedway, where he is the winningest active driver. And he is hoping to add to his resume at the 2.66-mile track.
Over the years Gordon has had great success at the revered superspeedway, and there is one man he can particularly thank, who also happens to still hold the all-time record with 10 wins at the track.
“I have had some great memories at Talladega, some big wins. I learned a lot from Dale Earnhardt Sr. about racing on restrictor-plate tracks like Talladega,” Gordon said. “I remember watching him do things that I didn't think were possible, and a few years later, taking that knowledge and utilizing it in getting some wins. It’s something that I am very proud of.”
Not only does Gordon have six wins at Talladega, he has 15 top-five finishes there as well.
Tune in Sunday, May 3, at 1 p.m. ET on FOX to see if he can continue the roll and capture his first checkered flag of the season at Talladega Superspeedway.
