CONCORD, N.C. -- July 15, 2012, was a banner day for Kasey Kahne.
Starting from the outside pole, he led 66 laps on his way to Victory Lane at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
It was his first win at the Loudon, New Hampshire, track, and marked his second victory of the season. It's a memory that still stands out to the driver of the No. 5 Great Clips Chevrolet SS.
“What a day," he said. "I just remember being so pumped to get another win for Hendrick Motorsports. We had a really strong team that day."
It marks the last time the organization has won at the 1.058-mile oval, and Kahne was bombarded with congratulatory messages on Twitter.
"My guys put in a great effort and I remember having so many other drivers and fans reach out to me with their support and congratulations," Kahne recalled. "It was a great feeling that afternoon. Even Mario Andretti sent me a tweet. It was pretty unbelievable to get a tweet from Mario.”
In addition to that win, Kahne has three top-five finishes, eight top-10s and 305 laps led in his career at New Hampshire.
This weekend, he'll look to add to those totals and grab his first win of the 2015 season in the process.
"It's a really hard track, but we've run really well there in the past and looking forward to getting back and seeing what we can do this year," No. 5 team crew chief Keith Rodden said.
