CONCORD, N.C. -- With eight races remaining until the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, Jeff Gordon is currently seeded 12th in the tentative 16-driver Chase field.

He earned that position due to holding the second-most points of all drivers without a win. But a trip to Victory Lane would help secure his position even further.

Gordon sat down with HendrickMotorsports.com to give his take on the state of the No. 24 team, which you can watch in the above video.

"Nobody has worked harder than (No. 24 team crew chief) Alan (Gustafson) and our group of engineers and everybody at Hendrick Motorsports, especially the No. 24 team, to make improvements," he said. "And we certainly have, and we've been seeing the benefits of that in our performances on the track."

As for that elusive first win?

"We've got some great opportunities coming up," he said.

Watch his complete thoughts on where his team stands at the top of the story.
