CONCORD, N.C. -- This weekend, the Contender Round of the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup comes to a close at what No. 24 team crew chief Alan Gustafson called "the ultimate pressure-cooker."
Talladega Superspeedway is the site where four drivers will be eliminated from Chase contention, and Jeff Gordon knows that even at sixth place in the standings, he'll have to bring his "A" game to the 2.66-mile oval.
"You've pretty much got to count on the fact that you've got to go in there with the mindset of we're going to have to step up and perform big here at Talladega," he said.
