HOMESTEAD, Fla. – We’ve already taken a look at Jeff Gordon’s career by the numbers.

But as he prepares to make his final start, we thought we would reminisce about what was going on in the world when Gordon made his very first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start on Nov. 15, 1992.

On that fateful Sunday:

  • The No. 1 song in America was "How Do You Talk to an Angel" by The Heights
  • The top pop album was Michael Bolton's "Timeless"
  • “Bram Stoker's Dracula” was the No. 1 movie in theaters
  • The eventual Super Bowl-champion Dallas Cowboys lost to the Los Angeles Rams
  • Guard Drazen Petrovic scored 32 points as the New Jersey Nets defeated the Washington Bullets
  • “60 Minutes” was the No. 1 show on television, followed closely by “Roseanne”
  • George H.W. Bush was president of the United States of America
  • A gallon of gas was approximately $1.13
  • Jay Leno was in his first season as host of "The Tonight Show"
  • Minnesota's Mall of America -- the largest mall in the country -- had just opened its doors
  • Oscar De La Hoya was a week away from making his professional boxing debut
  • "End of the Road" by Boyz II Men was on its way to becoming the top song of 1992
  • Odell Beckham Jr. was 10 days old
  • Miley Cyrus would be born in just eight days
  • "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York" was just five days away from its theatrical release
  • "The Bodyguard" was 10 days away from its release on the way to becoming the No. 1 movie of the year
  • Dale Earnhardt Jr. was 18 years old
  • Jimmie Johnson was 17 years old
  • Kasey Kahne was 12 years old
  • Chase Elliott wouldn't be born for three more years

Much has changed since then, but there has been one constant -- Gordon has been behind the wheel of the No. 24.

He'll take the Chevrolet for one more ride Sunday at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
