CONCORD, N.C. -- Kasey Kahne got a once-in-a-lifetime experience to celebrate the pending arrival of Shark Week.
Thanks to Great Clips and Discovery, he joined the University of Miami Shark Research team and Oceana to help tag sharks.
You can go behind the scenes of the adventure with this photo gallery -- including some underwater shots -- and a video showcasing the tagging as well.
Now that the sharks are tagged, what better way to keep track of one in particular than a race?
Discovery is keeping tabs on the #GreatSharkRace with the "Kasey Kahne + Great Clips Shark Tracker."
Each Monday in June, the tracker has been updated. The miles the shark swims will be matched up against the miles Kahne has driven on the track up to the event at Sonoma Raceway on June 26, when the driver will pilot his No. 5 Chevrolet SS with a Shark Week paint scheme.
Check out the paint scheme here, and keep an eye on the #GreatSharkRace here!
