TALLADEGA, Ala. – Stage 1 is complete at Talladega Superspeedway and the Hendrick Motorsports teammates are currently led by Jimmie Johnson
After starting in 30th, Johnson worked his way through the field for a 14th-place Stage 1 finish.
Chase Elliott was next to take the green checkered flag in 16th.
Dale Earnhardt Jr., who started on the outside pole, was shuffled back and finished the first stage in 19th.
Teammate Kasey Kahne was just behind Earnhardt in 21st.
Brad Keselowski won the stage.
Stage 2 will consist of another 55 laps before a final 78-lap final segment.
