DOVER, Del. – Stage 1 is complete at Dover International Speedway and Jimmie Johnson is leading the Hendrick Motorsports teammates.

After starting from the rear of the field due to a gear change, Johnson worked his way through the field for a fifth-place finish after the first 120 laps.

Kasey Kahne finished directly behind Johnson in sixth. Both teammates earned bonus points for finishing in the top 10.

Teammate Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished just outside of the top 10 in 12th.

During the second of five cautions during Stage 1, Chase Elliott was penalized for speeding on pit road and had to restart from the rear of the field. He recovered to finish the stage in 15th.

Martin Truex Jr. won the stage.

Stage 2 will consist of another 120 laps before a final 160-lap segment.
