CONCORD, N.C. – When Chase Elliott hits the track at Darlington Raceway for the Southern 500, he'll do so in a paint scheme special to the Elliott family.
The driver's No. 24 NAPA AUTO PARTS Chevrolet SS will have a retro look -- a throwback to NASCAR Hall of Famer Bill Elliott's ride in 1976.
"Just his history in racing and his success over the years and how long he raced allows us to do cool stuff like this," Chase Elliott said of his father.
The look is based on Bill Elliott’s light blue paint scheme that debuted at Rockingham Speedway in 1976.
The fact that it's not a well-known scheme makes it even more exciting for the younger Elliott.
"That wasn't the car people know him for," he said. "So, I feel like it's kind of cool to open people's eyes to things that maybe they haven't seen about his career and the history of the Elliott family."
