CONCORD, N.C. -- William Byron's preparation for the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series season is well underway, but he tweeted on Monday that it felt a bit like the first day of school.
The tweet featured a photo of a new Microsoft Surface Pro marked with the driver of the No. 24 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1's initials.
That caught the attention of the former driver of the No. 24 Chevy, Jeff Gordon.
The FOX Sports NASCAR analyst joked that Byron's "first day of school" was a little different than Gordon's back in the early 1990s.
New technology or not, Byron's preparation has been plenty impressive according to No. 24 team crew chief Darian Grubb.
"He's doing everything it's going to take to make sure he has that performance," Grubb said.
"It's impressive and I'm really excited about getting him on the racetrack."
