CONCORD, N.C. – As William Byron embarks on his rookie season in the NASCAR Cup Series season, the 20-year-old driver has already added another accolade.
The 2017 NASCAR XFINITY Series champion was named the 2018 Autoweek Magazine Rising Star Award winner.
Byron was presented with the trophy Tuesday while participating in the NASCAR Media Tour.
“That’s awesome,” Byron said. “It means a lot. Being one of the younger guys and be recognized for what I’m doing is really cool and hopefully just leads to more success down the road.”
Byron’s Cup Series career in the No. 24 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 kicks off at Daytona International Speedway next month.
