LOUDON, N.H. – Friday evening’s NASCAR Cup Series qualifying session at New Hampshire Motor Speedway saw Jimmie Johnson lead the way for Hendrick Motorsports after qualifying in 10th.

Chase Elliott will follow in 12th with William Byron 22nd.

Due to mechanical problems with the driveshaft of his race car, Alex Bowman was unable to make a qualifying lap. His No. 88 team has elected to move to a backup car and will start Sunday’s race from the rear.  

Brad Keselowski captured the pole.
