Quotables: Hendrick Motorsports drivers talk Dover

CONCORD, N.C. -- The Challenger Round of the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup wraps up Sunday at Dover International Speedway.

Take a look at what three of Hendrick Motorsports' drivers had to say about the upcoming race.

Jeff Gordon, No. 24 Drive to End Hunger Chevrolet SS

On Dover and advancing to the next round:
“We had a good car last weekend at New Hampshire, but we didn’t get the finish we had hoped for because of the cut tire and damage after hitting the wall. Instead of going into Dover with a good cushion, we have to go there and perform at a high level like we've been doing all year to make it to the next round.”

Jimmie Johnson, No. 48 Lowe's/Kobalt Tools Chevrolet SS

On the 48 team's confidence level:
"We're very confident going to Dover. It's been a track over the years that if we needed a shot in the arm, it provided that for us, and if we're rolling, we can count on a great finish there and most times leave with a trophy. We're excited to go back. Loudon (New Hampshire), it's been a tough track for me over the years. We have a couple wins, but a top-five was really the goal there. Chicago, we had higher expectations than where we finished, and even where we ran, I think we ran from fourth to seventh throughout the day, and that would've been a respectible finish. But at the end we got eaten up by guys on new tires and slipped to 12th. We did not meet expectations there. It just depends on how the Chase develops. Points are still important and we're happy to be fourth in points right now, so it makes the trip to Dover a little bit easier. I know there are some guys that are on the hot seat, and I can guarantee you when we get to the end of the race if there's a call on two versus four (tires) or fuel strategy, the guys from 12th on back, they're going to be very aggressive in that respect. I'm glad that we're not looking for a Hail Mary to get ourselves a chance for the next round."

Dale Earnhardt Jr., No. 88 National Guard Chevrolet SS

On Dover:
“We run well at Dover. I know everybody is looking at us like we are falling off a little bit, but Chicago hadn’t been a great track for us and New Hampshire hadn’t either. Dover has. So I will be surprised if we don’t go there and be competitive. We were racing for a win there last year and ran pretty good there earlier this year. I look forward to going and having a good car. Dover is not a track where we practice well.  I just have to keep that in mind while we are out there practicing and not get too distraught because we race pretty well there.”
