CONCORD, N.C. - This weekend, Hendrick Motorsports returns to Richmond Raceway for the second time in the 2024 season. The 300-mile main event will be the first time the NASCAR Cup Series has raced with two forms of tires in a points-paying competition. The move comes after testing the concept at the All-Star Race.

In total, Hendrick Motorsports has won 12 times at the .75-mile short track with seven different drivers. Of those 12 triumphs, two have come from the current driver lineup, with Kyle Larson winning in 2023 and Alex Bowman's victory during Richmond's spring race in 2021.

Larson returns to the capital city of Virginia sporting his iconic HendrickCars.com colors. The driver of the No. 5 entry has won pole position at the last three short tracks when qualifying has been held and will aim to extend his streak this weekend.

Coca-Cola will appear on the No. 9 entry as a primary sponsor for the first time this weekend. As for the team's driver, Chase Elliott, he sits 10 markers behind Larson in a tight battle for the regular season championship. Watch for the red colors to be in contention at Richmond.

William Byron will chase his first victory at the .75-mile short track with Valvoline as his primary sponsor. Although he has yet to break through at Richmond, his 239 career laps led are the third-most of any facility he's raced at in the Cup Series. All of those laps out front have come in the Next Gen car.

It will be a return to the primary colors of 2024 for Alex Bowman and the Ally Racing team at Richmond. Bowman, who was victorious at facility in 2021, has been solid on short tracks this season. His 124 markers earned on tracks of this type is the seventh-most among Cup Series drivers.
