CONCORD, N.C. - Hendrick Motorsports is diving headfirst into the world of advanced manufacturing.

Officially named Hendrick Motorsports Technical Solutions, the Concord, North Carolina company named executive Scott Lampe its new president ahead of next month’s opening of a brand-new, 160,000-square-foot advanced manufacturing facility on the campus of Hendrick Motorsports.

This expansive operation, first established in 2019, is now a standalone entity owned by Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick and overseen by Lampe. The company serves a variety of commercial and government partners, including GM Defense, which named Hendrick Motorsports Technical Solutions supplier of the year in 2022, 2023 and 2024.

“Rick Hendrick’s vision has always been about building for the future,” Hendrick Companies president Marshall Carlson said. “He recognized Hendrick Motorsports Technical Solutions can be a leader in advanced manufacturing, serving customers with ultra-high requirements. His commitment ensures our team is prepared for long-term growth and success. With Scott’s proven leadership and deep understanding of our organization, the company will continue to drive innovation with a racing mindset, deliver exceptional results for our customers and provide rewarding career opportunities for our teammates.”

With NASCAR’s transition to the NASCAR Cup Series' Gen-7 race car in 2022, it opened the door for Hendrick Motorsports to enter this specialized environment, offering opportunities to a highly skilled group of people who excel in areas such as fabricated metal structures, prototyping and assembly. This endeavor is a perfect fit for those with an auto-racing mindset.

“The formation of Hendrick Motorsports Technical Solutions marks an exciting new chapter,” Lampe said. “Our team is dedicated to delivering cutting-edge solutions that support each of our customers in government and industry. Our auto racing DNA is a significant differentiator. We’re able to quickly solve complex problems and provide innovative, high-quality products that help our customers win.”

Additionally, the current team of 140 employees will be working on CNC machining, composites, and electronics. The hope is to add 60 new team members over the next 18 months.

“Our region is loaded with skilled labor, from top engineering talent to master tradespeople,” Lampe said. “We are fortunate to have a world-class team in place with the opportunity for steady growth in the coming months and years.”
