DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - At 2:12 p.m., the yellow flag waved at Daytona International Speedway, bringing the 67th DAYTONA 500 to a screeching halt just nine laps in. 

After a couple of caution laps, the field was brought on to pit road with 11 circuits complete. 

Afternoon rain showers had been forecasted all week and they came to fruition on Sunday afternoon with weather affecting the Great American Race for the second straight year. Storm clouds began to form as driver introductions commenced and not long after, fans were sent to seek shelter.  

The latest forecasts call for rain to last until just after 5 p.m. with the rest of the evening looking promising.
