DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The 56th annual Daytona 500, the culminating event of next month's Speedweeks, is set to go green at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, Feb. 23 at Daytona International Speedway. Fan can tune in to the Great American Race on FOX Sports, MRN Radio or SiriusXM (Check local listings).
Here are the start times for the other remaining events of Daytona Speedweeks 2014:
•The Sprint Unlimited, Saturday, Feb. 15, 8 p.m. (FOX Sports 1)
•Daytona Beach Half Marathon, Sunday, Feb. 16, 6 a.m. Last year, Hendrick Motorsports teammates Jimmie Johnson and Kasey Kahne were among several who participated in the 13.1-mile event. Click here for a video from that event.
•Daytona 500 Qualifying, Sunday, Feb. 16, 1p.m. (FOX). Jeff Gordon drove his No. 24 Chevrolet SS to secure the outside pole position for the 2013 Daytona 500. Hendrick Motorsports has put a driver on the front row of the season-opening event 16 times; three of those were a front-row sweep.
•Budweiser Duel At Daytona, Thursday, Feb. 20, 7 p.m. (FOX Sports 1)
•Daytona 500, Sunday, Feb. 23, 1 p.m. (FOX, MRN, SiriusXM)
Johnson, defending Daytona 500 champion and driver of the No. 48 Lowe's Chevrolet SS, will begin pursuit of a seventh championship in the 56th annual Daytona 500, which would tie him alongside racing legends Richard Petty and the late Dale Earnhardt.
In 2013, Johnson became the first driver since NASCAR Hall of Famer Bobby Allison in 1982 to sweep both NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events at the “World Center of Racing.” In this year’s Daytona 500, Johnson will attempt to be the first driver since Sterling Marlin (1994-1995) to win “The Great American Race” for a second straight year.
