Gordon appears as celebrity builder on 'Extreme Makeover' show Sunday

AVONDALE, Ariz. (April 8, 2010) -- Jeff Gordon stepped out of his No. 24 DuPont Chevrolet and hopped onto the “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” bus recently to help Ty Pennington and the designers build a home for the Suggs family. Gordon and the design team surprised NASCAR fans Derrick and Amanda and their kids at their dilapidated home in South Carolina. Gordon immediately connected with the Suggs' car loving 5-year old son Walker and helped designer Paige Hemmis create the ultimate Race Car Bedroom for him. Gordon also assisted Pennington with a nursery, raced front-loaders with designer Ed Sanders and helped the whole gang with the fastest furniture move-in ever. Gordon even helped refurbish an old go-kart for the family. When the bus moved, the Suggs experienced their beautiful new home standing next to Gordon. But none was more impacted than Gordon. "It was definitely a great experience for me to be involved in the project, and the Suggs family is very deserving of their new home," said Gordon, a four-time NASCAR Sprint Cup champion. "It was incredible to see what was accomplished by the designers, the builders and the volunteers in such a short period of time." The show is scheduled to air this Sunday, April 11, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC (check local listings).
