CONCORD, N.C. – Thursday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Hendrick Motorsports’ speed and power were on display.
All four teammates made the final round of qualifying, with Alex Bowman missing out on the pole position by just 0.004 seconds, settling for the outside pole.
Just behind him was Chase Elliott in third, only 0.038 seconds behind the pole-sitter.
The driver who earned the pole, Kevin Harvick, thanked "Hendrick engines and chassis for everything that they do."
Jimmie Johnson and Kasey Kahne will start the Bank of America 500 side-by-side in 11th and 12th, respectively.
Afterward, social media was buzzing about Bowman’s qualifying performance in the No. 88 Axalta Chevrolet SS.
As for the 23-year-old driver himself, Bowman said he is having as much fun as he can ever remember inside of a race car. And he’s looking forward to seeing what the No. 88 Chevy can do this weekend once the green flag drops.
“I think our car is definitely very strong -- starting up front in clean air is always helpful,” he said. “We’ve got great Hendrick horsepower under the hood and just ready to go Saturday night or Sunday or whenever we get to race.”
