CONCORD, N.C. -- From a winless streak to advancing to the Championship 4 in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, there's no doubt it's been a roller coaster 2016 season for Jimmie Johnson.
Jimmie Johnson joined FOX Sports 1 to talk about the challenges he and the No. 48 Lowe's Chevrolet SS team faced this season and how they overcame adversity.
"The thing I'm very proud of is the team that we have not only at the No. 48 but all four race cars at Hendrick Motorsports," Johnson said. "If somebody was down we would try to pick the other guy up. The way we turned the corner and got back into championship form was through our group working closer together than they ever have."
The driver also discussed what it means to him to be competing for his seventh NASCAR Sprint Cup championship this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
"The chance at seven is alive and I'm just excited I have a shot at it," Johnson said, "and I think that's all any driver can ask for, is a shot at a championship."
