CONCORD, N.C. – William Byron has had quite the exciting week.
On Wednesday, it was officially announced that Byron would race in the NASCAR Cup Series for Hendrick Motorsports beginning in 2018.
The driver first heard the news straight from Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick.
Hendrick invited Byron and his father over to his house last weekend for a meeting, while Byron had no idea what was going on.
“I had no idea before Sunday that this opportunity was out there,” Byron said. “It was a special surprise for me. So, I’m really excited about it and it’s something that I’ve always dreamed about.”
