CONCORD, N.C. – Ever since the announcement that Ally was joining Hendrick Motorsports as the full-season sponsor for the No. 48 team starting in 2019, the unveil of the Ally Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 has been a hot topic.

Speculation on what the design would be like came from all over, including Jimmie Johnson’s own daughters. Finally, last week, Johnson joined “Good Morning America” to reveal the brand-new paint scheme, one that he had a hand in helping to design.

“It was a fun process, and one that I was heavily involved with,” Johnson told SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

It marks the driver’s first time being heavily involved in the design process. Leading up to the unveiling, Johnson and Ally worked for months to get the design just right.

And the seven-time champion couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

“I think it looks awesome and just excited to get it on the track, and get it into Victory Lane, hopefully very soon,” Johnson said.

Along the way, Johnson took to social media to hint at the car’s new design before its official unveil. A series of pictures on the driver’s Instagram featured the car hidden in the background, and he joked that he was “shocked no one noticed.”

“Ally is an amazing company and we’ve had a lot of fun over the last few months getting things ready and prepared,” the driver said.

With a new No. 48 Chevy and a new race season on the horizon, Johnson is excited for what’s to come.

“A lot of new this year,” he said. “I’m fired up and ready. And the car looks great.”
