WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. – After a two-round qualifying format, three Hendrick Motorsports drivers made it into the final round at Watkins Glen International on Saturday afternoon.

Jeff Gordon, driver of the No. 24 Axalta Chevrolet SS, will lead his teammates to the green in fifth place.

“I felt the car was really solid,” Gordon said. “We ran just a little bit slower than yesterday, but still fifth is a great starting position here at Watkins Glen. I am hoping that fifth position is close enough to the front that all of that work will pay off during the race.”

Behind him, Dale Earnhardt Jr., driving the No. 88 Nationwide Chevrolet SS, will roll off the grid seventh.

Piloting the No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet SS, Jimmie Johnson will take the green ninth.

"I love road-course racing," Johnson said. "I grew up in a similar aspect of racing. I truly enjoy it. Wish I had more victories in the road-course column and would certainly love to get one here."

Kasey Kahne will roll his No. 5 Time Warner Cable Chevrolet SS off 23rd on Sunday.

A.J. Allmendinger will lead the 43-car field at Watkins Glen on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network.
