Sunday, he will roll off the grid 18th, followed by Johnson in 22nd and Byron in 23rd.
Chase Elliott will start Sunday’s race 27th after not advancing past the first round in Friday’s qualifying session.
“I don’t really have much of an excuse for it, just didn’t hit it right today,” Elliott said. “We’ll go to work tonight and work through it and hopefully get better tomorrow.”
Kyle Busch earned the pole.
Sunday’s race is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET on FOX, PRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
