CONCORD, N.C. -- Chase Elliott will lead all Hendrick Motorsports drivers with a seventh-place start at the inaugural DAYTONA Road Course race this Sunday.
Jimmie Johnson will start in 11th, William Byron will roll off the grid in 13th and Alex Bowman will follow up with a 27th-place start.
The starting lineup is based on a new metric system put in place on Aug. 6. Points position is weighted at 35%; finishing position from the previous race is for 50%; and the fastest race lap makes up 15%.
Kevin Harvick will be starting in the pole position.
The road course at Daytona will start on Sunday, Aug. 16 at 3 p.m. ET on NBC, MRN Radio and SiriusXM.
